About us

Following an internship with what is now Scottish Enterprise, Elaine started a career in events working with a large professional conference organiser, where she worked events for a number of industries.

In the year 2000, Elaine set up Brightstar to deliver association and event management services to membership organisations. For the last 23 years, Brightstar has worked with a number of high profile organisations in Scotland to help build their memberships, run day to day operations, and deliver events, activities, campaigns, CPD, and training.

With a background in politics, Alison joined the Brightstar team from BIDS Scotland, where she was Marketing, Communications and Administration Manager. In her role with Brightstar, Alison supports clients with strategy and everyday operations. Her specialisms include governance, event design and management, strategic communications, project management and business administration.

Outside of work, Alison is a keen bibliophile – with a home library that’s the envy of her colleagues!

Hollie's background is in politics, journalism and communications. Upon graduating university, she started her career in communications working for a lifesciences software company where she was responsible for developing and delivering the digital marketing strategy.

Hollie supports Brightstar’s roster of clients with social media, website development and external communications.

Caroline joined the Brightstar team after eight years working in marketing and comms as a Copywriter and Digital Marketing Manager, specialising in the mixed use property sector and small business ecosystem.

Caroline supports the wider Brightstar team with Marketing and Communications, event management, and digital strategy as well as all things wordy!

Before joining the Brightstar team, Rhona was 28 years in financial services with Bank of Scotland, before branching out into lottery fundraising for Ayrshire Hospice. This was followed by management of the Scottish Enterprise Business Mentoring programme for Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce where, over four years, she developed an extensive network of support for local businesses.

Rhona now operates across a number of projects for Brightstar Scotland including management of membership services, developing partner relationships, assisting with event organisation.

Ewan has supported Brightstar clients in a variety of roles since 2015. He has a track record of delivery in project management, policy research, marketing and communications, and has worked in the media, third and academic sectors.

Ewan also holds a PhD in Social Policy from the University of Edinburgh. In his spare time, Ewan is also a bit of a polyglot and all-round lover of languages.
